李爱国，1958年7月生于沈阳。北京大学艺术学院教授 。中国美术家协会理事，中国美术家协会中国画艺委会委员，中国画马艺术研究会副会长，中国工笔会学会常务理事，北京市政协委员，北京市高等学校青年学科带头人；北京市跨世纪优秀人才；被中国文联评为“百名优秀青年文艺家”，文化部高级职称评委。外交部特约画家。曾任第六届、第七届北京青联委员，第八届北京青联常委。第九届、第十届海淀区政协委员。北京市美术家协会理事，北京市美术家协会中国画艺委会副主任兼秘书长。首都师范大学校学术委员会、学位委员会委员，首都师范大学民族艺术研究所副所长。1992年北京市破格评为副教授，1996年北京市破格评为教授。作品获第七届全国美术作品展览铜牌奖；第十届全国美术作品展览优秀奖；第十届全国美术作品展特别奖——“关山月”美术基金奖；第二届中国当代工笔画大展一等奖；首届《连环画报》金环奖；首次中国连环画十佳作品奖；首届《国画家》奖；获“联合国非政府组织世界和平教育协会艺术大展”荣誉奖，北京高等学校青年学科带头人、曾被中国文联评为“百名优秀文艺家”，出版有《李爱国画集》等十九本个人画集。作品被中国美术馆、中国国家博物馆、中国军事博物馆、中南海等收藏。发表学术论文《静谈》、《没骨说》等四十余篇。

在台北市立美术馆举办《李爱国中国画作品展》；在美国爱荷华州立大学美术馆举办《李爱国中国画作品展》。
出版有《李爱国画集》、《李爱国 . 国画创意》、《画马》、《工笔人体画技法》、《李爱国课稿》、《名家名画 . 李爱国作品》、《李爱国工笔画集》、《李爱国中国画作品》、《当代名家工笔人物画精品 . 李爱国》、《李爱国工笔人物画集》、《李爱国水墨女人体画法》、《李爱国与他的画》个人画集十三本。
先后在九十余家报刊、杂志发表中国画作品七百余件；发表学术论文《静谈》、《没骨说》等三十余篇。
